KENNEWICK – A man who tried to elude three police agencies late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning is now in Benton County Jail. Christopher Murphy, 47, is facing charges that include suspicion of eluding and hit and run.

It began when Pasco police responded to a hit-and-run crash and followed the suspect. When Murphy hit the highway, Washington State Patrol joined in and asked for assistance from Kennewick. KPD then located the pickup truck near Hood Avenue and Neel Street.

Murphy allegedly took off again. WSP pursued for a short while, but terminated the pursuit to protect public safety. Officers from all three agencies canvassed the area and found the truck wrecked through a fence into a field at 19th and Union streets. Murphy was then taken into custody without any further incident.

Additional charges against Murphy are being considered.
