Elgin Stampede grounds closed until further notice to stage firefighters

ELGIN – Earlier this week, the Elgin Stampede announced via social media that that the Stampede Grounds are closed until further notice. Currently, the grounds are being used as a headquarters and housing area for wildland firefighters battling fires across Northeast Oregon. 

As such, all scheduled events have been impacted. Anyone that has a planned event and has not yet received notice from a board member should expect to be contacted soon. 

As written by the Elgin Stampede in the initial update:

“Our priority right now is supporting the emergency response and ensuring our first responders have the space and resources they need. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding during this time.

Thank you for supporting our community and those working tirelessly to keep everyone safe.”
