ELGIN – (Release from the Elgin School District) The Elgin School District was awarded $15,000 by the Wildhorse Foundation to continue their efforts in renovating the recently purchased FFA Clubhouse located on Ink Wood Street in Elgin. The building and land were purchased in late 2023 as part of the Agricultural Learning Center complex the district is developing.
“We are so very grateful for the Wildhorse Foundation and their generous contribution to the project. Thanks to the Wildhorse Foundation, we will likely be able to complete the clubhouse this fall,” said Daniel Bolen, Agriculture Teacher and CTE Director at Elgin High School. Bolen continued, “The Wildhorse Foundation has been instrumental to so many projects for the Elgin School District, and they are such a valuable partner to organizations throughout the region.”
The FFA Clubhouse will serve as a community meeting and gathering space, as well as an educational facility for the school district. The facility will include a large meeting space that can be divided into two smaller meeting spaces, a commercial kitchen, bathrooms, and ADA accessibility. Renovation efforts will include building and repairing walls, installing kitchen equipment, reroofing the building, and upgrading parking. According to Bolen, funds from the Wildhorse Foundation are dedicated to building interior walls in the space, which currently is a large open space with a single bathroom.
