Elgin Resident Arrested Following Vehicle Chase

ELGIN – (Release from the Union County Sheriff’s Office) On May 13, 2023, at about 6:00pm Union County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit in and around the city of Elgin after the deputy witnessed the vehicle commit traffic violations. Speeds reached seventy (70) miles per hour. The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle became stuck in snow on Clark Creek Road outside of Elgin Oregon. Both the driver and passenger surrendered to the deputy at that time.
The driver was identified as Jeffery Alan Black (DOB 03/04/68), a resident of Elgin Oregon. Black was arrested and lodged in the Union County Jail on the following charges: Attempt to elude – vehicle, Reckless driving, and Reckless endangering. Black was also arrested on an outstanding Union County Felony Failure to Appear warrant and an out of state fugitive warrant from Washington state. Black’s vehicle was impounded by deputies and the passenger was given a courtesy ride to their residence.
