The Elgin Lions continued plans for Riverfest, which will be June 14th. PCC Steve Oliver will again be chairing the car show event and announced that he is looking for a major sponsor for “The Best in Show Award.” Kate Bottger is taking care of yard sales throughout Elgin for the week. Steve Oliver is contacting the Guard about having a climbing wall at Riverfest if it is available.

Chair Barbara Hawes gave a report on the roadside clean up project and relayed that she has submitted the necessary paperwork for Lions to continue the activity. Hawes also recommended that the group have a cleaning project for pocket park. The date chosen by the Lions was May 22nd.

Elgin senior Steven Regnerus was awarded the $1000 scholarship from the club and presented by President Pat McDonald and Kate Bottger at the annual awards program. McDonald also shared a large “thank you” card from the student council and staff for continuous dedication and support of the school and its activities. Kelly McLaughlin, who has the Student Council and physical education teacher in Elgin, as well as student Bella Bolen, served up ice cream to the Lions in appreciation of support given throughout the year.
