Elgin Lions prepare $200 dollars’ worth of school supply boxes

ELGIN – The Elgin Lions club is helping local students get ready for the upcoming school year with boxes of new school supplies, purchased by club members. Though the planned barbeque where supplies were supposed to have been distributed did have some disruptions due to smoke, Lions members still prepared over $200 dollars’ worth of school supply packages. The full update from the Elgin Lions Club is as follows:

“The Elgin Lions planned to hold a barbecue at the home of Daryl and Barbara Hawes and box up supplies purchased by club members for Elgin elementary students.  But Daryl and Barbara had to prepare the chicken and serve it inside the meeting hall due to the devastating smoke permeating the community. 

Undaunted by the surrounding fires, the Lions enjoyed a potluck before boxing up school supplies purchased by individuals and club treasury of $200. Twenty -five lions formed lines at the tables to pack up items such as pencils, erasers, crayons and more for the school year.”
