ELGIN โ (Release from the Elgin Parks and Recreation District) The Elgin Community Parks and Recreation District received a generous grant of $10,000.00 from the Wildhorse Foundation. This critical funding will directly support essential roof repairs for the Elgin Community Center, ensuring the long-term safety and functionality of this vital community hub.
Since its construction in 1970, the Elgin Community Center has been a cornerstone for residents and community organizations, providing a crucial gathering space. Deterioration of the roof has caused significant leaks, leading to damage, safety concerns, and disrupted services. This grant enables the district to obtain the necessary professional repair to maintain the center’s function as a safe, accessible space where activities enrich citizens’ lives. This project has received amazing support from the community, but it would not have been made possible without the Wildhorse Foundationโs contribution.
Each year, the Wildhorse Foundation makes grants to eligible nonprofit, government, and Tribal organizations within the homeland area of the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla people. Also eligible for funding are Tribal government agencies or Indian charitable organizations with their base of operations within Oregon, as well as national or regional Indian organizations.
The Wildhorse Foundation has awarded a total of over $19 million in grant funding since its establishment in 2001. Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis with the deadlines being January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. For more information, visit the Foundationโs website at www.TheWildhorseFoundation.com.
