JOHN DAY – Yesterday, on KJDY’s Coffee Time, Grant County Education Service District Superintendent Rober Waltenburg reminded listeners that it is the time of the year to get scholarships applied for—and that’s not only for the local students. Mr. Waltenburg brought up a unique opportunity from the Regional Educator Network for classified staff within the five local school districts:
“One that I’m very excited about is our classified scholarship. We are actively seeking and approaching classified staff who we think would make great teachers. Oftentimes the barrier is economic because classified staff do not make a lot of money. So, [we’re] getting them funding to go back to school while they’re working and go through and become teachers.”
