BURBANK โ€“ The Washington Department of Ecology seeks public feedback on an updated clean water permit for Simplot Feeders, the largest cattle feedlot in the state, which is in Burbank.

The feedlot usually holds 40,000 cattle but can support up to 100,000. Ecology said proper management of manure is essential for the environment and public health. The updated clean water permit aims to protect groundwater and wildlife, plus prevent nitrate contamination.

A virtual public hearing will be held on May 13, and comments can be submitted online until June 11.
