ECHO – The Echo Library received a major update recently, courtesy of Multnomah County.
A larger library book return depository has been installed next to the previous one outside of City Hall, where the library is located.
Echo Librarian Ana Lemmon said the new depository is worth several thousand dollars but was entirely donated by Multnomah County. The only expense for the city was sending a public works crew to the west side of the state to retrieve it.
“We are currently in the process of changing out the locks and preparing the unit for service,” Lemmon said. “We expect it to be operational later this month and will continue to keep the community updated.”
Echo City Administrator Mike Gonzalez said they would like to re-gift their previous depository. Saying although it is a bit older, a little TLC could bring it to life again.
