UPDATE 8/28/2025: Hermiston Police Department (HPD) has provided additional details on a two vehicle wreck at the intersection of U.S. 395 and West Orchard Avenue on Wednesday morning in Hermiston.
HPD said upon investigation it was determined the brush truck was on a call for service with lights and siren activated when it entered the intersection on a red light and collided with a westbound Dodge Journey operated by a Hermiston resident. A passenger in the Journey, also a Hermiston resident, was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital for evaluation of minor pain, while the driver was cited for driving without a valid driver’s license.
Additional cameras on U.S. 395 are being evaluated to assess the manner in which the operator of the brush truck was driving.
HERMISTON – Umatilla County Fire District No. 1 was dispatched to a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 395 and West Orchard Avenue in Hermiston on Wednesday. One of the vehicles involved was a brush truck from the Echo Fire Department.
UCFD1 says the accident occurred at 11:09 a.m. One person who was in the other vehicle, not the brush truck, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. Hermiston Police Department also assisted on the scene.
