EASTERN OREGON – The heat might still be picking up, but summer break will be winding down soon. School districts across Eastern Oregon are opening registration for both classes and athletics along with releasing 2022-2023 academic calendars. For parents and students that may have missed some of this information, the following is update on currently available registration and scheduling details from the various Eastern Oregon school districts.ย
Note, according to the Center for Human Development (CHD), the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) is requiring a physical exam on school file for any student interested or actively participating in school athletics. As stated in a post to their social media, the CHD is providing wellness and sports physicals at the Union School-Based Health Center, August 9, and the La Grande School Based Health Center, August 10 and 11. The CHD will also provide examinations to uninsured youth at no out of pocket cost. Sports physical forums are available at school-based health centers, school offices or online at the OSAA website.

Imbler
Imbler will be holding in-person registration days for k-12 students August 9 and 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the elementary school. Classes start august 25 for grades 7-12 and August 26 for k-6.
Free sports physicals are also being offered at the Elgin Clinic August 10 and 11. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 541-437-2273. Forms are available online at OSAA.org or by pickup at the school office.

Union
Union will be holding in-person registration days August 15 and 16. Hours are 8:00 a.m. – Noon and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. August 15 and 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. August 16. Classes start August 29.
Free sports physicals are also being offered at the Union Student Based Health Center August 9. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 541-562-9418

Cove
Classes for Cove School District start August 22. High School volleyball practice being August 15 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday that week.
High school football practice begins August 15. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will have two practices, one starting at 7:00 a.m. and the other at 6:00 p.m. while Tuesday and Thursday will only have the 6:00 p.m. practice.

Elgin
Classes for Elgin School District start August 29. Registration days for middle and high school students is August 10 and 11. Free Sports physicals are also scheduled for August 10 and 11. 5th and 6th graders interested in tackle football must register at Catalog – La Grande, OR (rec1.com) by August 15.

La Grande
La Grande school district will be holding an in-person registration day and resource fair at the middle school August 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This will include representatives from local agencies and resources such and Cook Memorial Library and Community Connections
Classes for La Grande start August 29 for k-7 and freshman and august 30 for grades 8 and 10-12. A school board meeting is scheduled for August 10 at 7:00 p.m.

Joseph
Classes for Joseph begin August 24. A football team meeting with parents is scheduled for August 15 at 5:30 p.m. Football Practice will be at 5:45 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. the first week and then moved to 4:00 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. after that. All student athletes are required to have a physical and sign a school waiver by august 15.
The first mandatory volleyball practice is scheduled for August 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. along with a 7:30 p.m. parent meeting. All student athletes are required to have a physical to participate. Practice for the rest of the week is mandatory. Practice for August 17 and 18 is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Practice for August 19 is from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
