Eastern Oregon Latino serving non-profits bolstered by nearly $70,000 in grants

LA GRANDE & ONTARIO – The Oregon Community Foundation recently announced that, as part of its Latino Partnership Program, three Eastern Oregon nonprofit organizations working to support Latino Oregonians will receive a combined $68,348 in grants. This is part of a larger statewide grant funding effort involving 86 organizations receiving a combined 1.26 million dollars. The local organizations to receive funding, and the projects the funding will be used for, are as follows:

  • Eastern Oregon Regional Arts Council 
    • La Grande
    • $8,348
    • “To support costs to increase rural Latino participation in the Dia de los Muertos Youth Exhibit.”
  • Eastern Oregon University Foundation
    • La Grande
    • $10,000
    • “To support the ¡Conéctate! gathering of Latinx-serving organizations, partners, and community members in Eastern Oregon”
  • Euvalcree
    • Ontario
    • $50,000
    • “To strengthen and implement strategies and activities to engage Latino/x communities in local student success act plans and facilitate genuine engagement efforts.”

The grants are meant to support programs with a priority on education, leadership development, and wealth building. The Latino Partnership Program itself, as written in a recent release by the Oregon Community Foundation:

“Works with nonprofits that offer culturally specific initiatives on housing, education, economic development, childcare and other services.”
