Eastern Oregon Hunters, the deadline to report late season 2026 hunts is April 15

EASTERN OREGON – A reminder to Eastern Oregon hunters, the deadline to report late season tags is coming up soon. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife requires any hunter that purchased a tag ending on March 31, 2026, to report their hunts by April 15, 2026. Just over two weeks away.

This applies to all hunters that purchased a deer, elk, cougar, bear, pronghorn, or turkey tag, even if they were unsuccessful or did not hunt at all. Anyone who purchased a SportsPac but did not redeem their voucher tags is not required to report.

Failure to report by the deadline could result in a $25 dollar penalty. As written by ODFW:

“The penalty is paid with the purchase of a hunting license two years hence. Only a single penalty is assessed, regardless of the number of tags you did not report.”

Keep in mind that, though reporting is required for big game and turkey tags, the penalty only applies when failing to report deer or elk hunts, as of the latest information published by ODFW. Further, only one penalty is issued regardless of the number of unreported tags.

Hunters that report on time are entered to win a special big game tag, including hunting privileges, for either deer, elk, or pronghorn in an expanded hunt area during an extended season. Only three winners are selected each year, with the drawing taking place in June.

Hunters can report online via the ODFW licensing webpage, the MyODFW app, or in person at an ODFW license agent or ODFW office. As always, Hunters will need their hunter/angler ID number, and the total number of days hunted (including while mentoring youth). If the hunt area covered more than one wildlife management unit (WMU), hunters will need the two-digit WMU number of the unit hunted in most and the number of days hunted in whichever WMU was hunted in most.

Hunters that no longer have tag or license information when reporting can call ODFW Licensing at 503-947-6101 to receive their Hunter/Angler ID. ODFW Licensing can also be contacted to correct misreported hunts.
