LA GRANDE – (Release from LGPD) On August 13th, 2021 at 11:51AM police officers from the La Grande Police Department responded to a vehicle crash on Cherry Street near Washington Avenue. Once on scene, the investigating officers found that a 2014 grey Ford F- 350 had side swiped 3 unoccupied parked vehicles on Washington Avenue. After hitting the parked vehicles, the suspect vehicle continued to turn north on Cherry Street, hitting an occupied 2017 Subaru Outback that was stopped at the stop sign at Cherry Street and Washington Avenue. The suspect vehicle then continued to drive north on Cherry Street before hitting another unoccupied parked vehicle on the side of the road, causing the vehicle to come to a rest.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was still on scene when the police arrived who was identified as Michael Warner (65) of North Powder. After an investigation, Warner was arrested and lodged in the Union County Jail for DUII. He had sustained a minor injury. The two occupants of the Subaru Outback also sustained minor injuries.
All of the vehicles involved endured substantial damage. The La Grande Police Department was assisted by the Oregon State Police and the La Grande Fire Department.
