BOARDMAN – A driver landed on Laurel Lane in Boardman after flying off Interstate 84 when he mistakenly believed the “full-steering” mode on his GMC Sierra was activated.

According to an Oregon State Police report, the 49-year-old driver from Central Point, Oregon, told troopers his Sierra had a “full-steering option like a Tesla” and thought the feature was engaged.

The driver said he turned to speak with a passenger and looked back to find his vehicle traveling eastbound in the median. The truck launched into the air between two interstate bridge decks before landing on Laurel Lane below.

No injuries were reported. The driver was not cited.
