Driver dead after I-84 crash in Gilliam County

GILLIAM COUNTY – A commercial truck driver died as the result of a single vehicle crash on Interstate 84 on Tuesday.

Oregon State Police (OSP) says that 47-year-old Adam Hassan Ahmed Haroun of Twin Falls, Idaho was driving westbound in a Freightliner truck and trailer at 3:45 a.m. when he left the roadway and struck a bridge pillar near milepost 148, one mile east of the Oregon Highway 74 exit.

The truck caught fire, and the highway was impacted for approximately 11 hours during the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted by the North Gilliam County Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
