Driver arrested after pedestrian killed in Umatilla County hit and run

UMATILLA COUNTY – Oregon State Police responded Monday at 5:53 a.m. to a pedestrian crash on Highway 395, near milespost 2, near Hermiston.

The pedestrian, Breann Hailey Mayberry, 31, from Umatilla was found deceased on the highway and was declared deceased at the scene.

Investigators believe a white commercial motor vehicle was involved and left the scene. They spotted a white Freightliner being towed, which matched the damage at the crash site.

The driver, Timothy Alvin Brown, 66, from Yakima was arrested for failing to perform his duties as a driver. He did not suffer any injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and the highway was closed for about five hours.
