UMATILLA COUNTY – Two-day COVD-19 vaccination events in Pendleton and Milton-Freewater Friday and Saturday were “nothing short of spectacular” according to Board of Commissioners Chairman George Murdock. A total of 841 doses were administered at the Pendleton Convention Center and 279 were given in Milton-Freewater.

“We are sorry for those who had to wait in line,” Murdock said. “Sometimes lines went back to Roy Raley Park. These numbers are five times what we have experienced every week.”

Murdock said that, throughout the county, almost 2,000 doses were administered last week.

“Last week’s report brought some of the best news we have gotten for many weeks,” Murdock writes in his weekly report. “Our case count continued on its downward plunge with 182 cases. It is still higher than we want, but considering it is 323 cases lower than just a few weeks ago, we are clearly going in the right direction.”
