MALHEUR COUNTY — Dr. Oz has agreed to visit Malheur County with Senator Ron Wyden. Dr. Mehmet Oz, who was nominated to oversee the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently came before the Senate Finance Committee. Longtime committee member Sen. Wyden questioned Dr. Oz on whether he would oppose cuts to Medicaid and Medicare if confirmed into the position.
Wyden cited Malheur County as being the “Oregon county with the highest share of residents that get their health insurance through Medicaid.”
Sen. Wyden invited Dr. Oz to a future town hall in Malheur County, and his response was, “If confirmed, I commit to visiting with you if you’ll teach me your jump shot.” The Senator said he can make sure there’s a basketball court available, but needed clarification that the doctor would visit. Dr. Oz confirmed, “I promise you I’ll be with you in [Malheur] County, or everywhere you wish to travel within Oregon.”
Sen. Wyden noted that he and his team have held over 1,100 town hall meetings in Oregon.
