DAYVILLE – (Press Release from Dayville School District 16J)
The Dayville School Board is pleased to announce and welcome Dr. Davida Irving as the new
Superintendent/Principal of the School District effective July 1st, 2022.
According to Board Chair, Gina Fisher, “Dr. Irving brings a plethora of knowledge and
experience to the role. We are beyond excited to welcome her to our District and our
community. We embrace Dr. Irving’s ability to build strong relationships and look forward to
this expanding beyond the students and the staff also to their families and the community.”
Dr. Irving has over 12 years of administrative experience including Superintendent/Principal of
the Foster (RI) School from 2009-2013. She is currently a teacher of 9th grade English and
Global Geography for the Newport News Public Schools in Virginia. Dr. Irving has international
teaching/administrative experience in South Korea, France and most recently in Thailand. She
has been an adjunct professor at several universities and a supervisor of student teachers and
teacher training programs in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Irving received her Ph.D. in Curriculum
and Teaching from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and her Master of Arts
Degree in Secondary Education from Wake Forest (NC) University.

Board, educators, parents, and community members as we continue making a positive
difference for our children. I cannot think of a better way to spend the rest of my career than
in Dayville as your Superintendent and Principal.”
