UMATILLA COUNTYThe following is a letter from Umatilla County Commissioner Dan Dorran:

The Oregon Legislative Joint Committee on Transportation will be in Hermiston on August 29th. They are traveling to several locations in Oregon to help educate themselves on funding needs and solutions. They will be taking a bus tour of State, County and Local roads and bridges in the morning, a roundtable discussion in the afternoon and a public comment and community discussion in the evening. I have attached a link to the schedule along with an attachment.

This funding is critical to all of Umatilla County and the local municipalities. The current 50-30-20 funding formula is at risk which would be devastating to maintaining our rural transportation system. With that said, there will be discussions on different ways to streamline ODOT and also raise additional revenue. Topics from raising gas taxes to road user charges and other options will be raised.

Please let your neighbors and all that drive on our rural road system have this opportunity to engage with state wide legislators.

Thank you and if you have questions, please reach out. And please put on your calendar if at all possible.
