MILTON-FREEWATER — The Milton-Freewater School District has announced a major upgrade to its agricultural facilities following a donation from a local business, boosting hands-on learning for the district’s FFA program.

Elmer’s Irrigation and owner Lou Lyons provided and installed a fully functioning irrigation system for the school’s greenhouse. The new setup includes automated timers and specialized emitters designed to support various planting needs, allowing students to study plant science and modern greenhouse management with professional-grade equipment.

District officials said the timing is critical as students prepare for their annual spring plant sale. The event, the first to utilize the new system, is scheduled for May, just in time for Mother’s Day.

“Community partnerships like this help bring real-world learning to life,” the district said in a statement, noting that such investments are vital for training the next generation of agricultural leaders.
