HERMISTON – An alleged domestic dispute ended when a Hermiston man drove his 2015 Dodge Challenger into a residence on the 100 block of Southwest 12th Street at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Officers were advised while enroute to the scene that a man had driven his vehicle into the residence. Chief Jason Edmiston said the officers took Brenton Handforth, 41, into custody.
Edmiston said based on statements provided as well as evidence (including a handgun and a spent casing) Handforth was taken into custody and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on charges of attempted murder, first-degree criminal mischief, and unlawful use of a weapon.
The jail roster stated on Tuesday that Handforth was charged with first-degree murder. Edmiston said that was not the case.
“Nobody died or was injured,” he said.
