COLLEGE PLACE – Federal and state agencies have finished reviewing all the documents related to the Lions Park renovation project. College Place City Administrator Mike Rizzitiello said a contractor walk through of the eight-acre park, at 801 SE Larch Ave., will take place soon as bids will be due next month.
Rizzitiello said the city hopes to essentially get the bid awarded next month so that work can be performed through the spring and summer of 2024.
The Lions Park Improvement project will include a splash pad, inclusive playground, baseball backstop, exercise stations, walking pathways, picnic shelter, restrooms, fishing dock, lighting, and associated parking lot improvements. Additionally, infrastructure improvements will include the installation of stormwater facilities, enhancement to water quality by intercepting existing discharges to the pond and Garrison Creek. The park’s pond will be dredged and isolated from the Garrison Creek channel which will enable the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife to continue stocking the pond with rainbow trout.
The estimated cost of the improvements is $6 million.
