Do not use 9-1-1 calls for non-emergencies

LA GRANDE – Just like any holiday weekend, the Dispatch Center in La Grande gets inundated with non-emergency calls. The La Grande Police Department is asking citizens to use 9-1-1 appropriately, so that the dispatchers are available for emergencies. The dispatchers said if non-emergency question arise call the business line (541-963-1017). Over the Fourth of July weekend, the dispatch center received more than their share of 9-1-1 calls about using fireworks. Unless it’s an emergency, please use the business line.
