WALLA WALLA — Non-emergency and administrative phone lines for Walla Walla Emergency Services Commnunications (WESCOM), the 911 dispatch center, will be temporarily out of service Monday, Feb. 9, for state-mandated system maintenance.
The outage is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to last approximately six to eight hours.
Officials emphasized that 911 emergency services and Text-to-911 capabilities will not be affected. Dispatch for police, fire, and EMS will continue as normal, and response times are not expected to change during the maintenance window.
“This planned outage is required to ensure our 911 system continues operating safely and reliably,” WESCOM officials said in a statement.
Residents requiring immediate assistance from police, fire, or ambulance services during the outage should continue to dial 911. Those trying to reach the center for non-urgent matters or administrative inquiries will need to wait until the lines are restored.
WESCOM officials stated they will notify the public as soon as the non-emergency lines are fully operational. The agency expressed appreciation for the community’s patience during the essential upgrades.
