WALLA WALLA – The design of the Fifth Avenue pedestrian- and bicycle-only bridge that will cross the Mill Creek Channel in Walla Walla has reached 100 percent completion. The bridge will replace the existing bridge on North Fifth Avenue between West Rose and West Sumach streets.
The Fifth Avenue bridge project, managed by Tri-State Steelheaders, will remove the existing bridge located West Rose and West Sumach streets and add fish passage improvements in the channel.
Construction is expected to begin this spring.
The $2.6 million project is funded by a $2.2 million state grant from the Washington Fish Barrier Removal Board. The city will cover the remaining cost.
