BAKER CITY — One of the Baker County Sheriff’s Office’s (BCSO) most recognizable members is celebrating a milestone.
Deputy Daisy is marking one year with the sheriff’s office.
Daisy, a bloodhound, is undergoing training as a tracking canine to locate missing persons and apprehend criminal suspects. Daisy was donated by Trish Marshall, Mark McDowell and Karley Reddick of Jerome, Idaho in January of 2023.
“Daisy may be the favorite and most loved member of BCSO (probably among the employees AND community)!” said Ashley McClay, Public Information Officer for the BCSO.
She accompanies her handler, Deputy Chad Mills, on his shift patrols and in her one year in Baker County has been deployed on two searches. She is continuing to train and get acclimated to her role with BCSO.
In February, Daisy will travel to California to attend training and earn her certification. After receiving her certification, the BCSO says she will be more involved with training and deployments.
The BCSO says Daisy is well-liked within the community and has made visits to Keating Elementary and Head Start. She also participated in Shop with a Cop.
