KENNEWICK – Deputies in Benton County, Washington, along with a veterinarian, responded Monday morning to the Finley area for an animal neglect complaint after a caller shared concerns. The animals located off of East Third Avenue appeared to be underfed and in poor health.
It turns out the property owner had been taking care of a couple extra animals to help friends who could no longer care for them. The owner was educated how to properly feed the farm animals and administer the correct medication to keep the animals healthy.
Deputies will follow up to ensure the health and welfare of the animals improves over the next couple of weeks.
With freezing temperatures in the area, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office asks both livestock owners and pet owners to make sure their animals have access to food, water, and shelter.
