PENDLETON – The deadline to register for Leadership Pendleton’s class of 2024 is Friday. Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Cheri Rosenberg-LaBoy says the one-day-a-month class runs for eight months.

“It’s from January through August,” she said. “We try to keep it the third Wednesday of each month. You just hop on a bus at different locations and you go a whole day just learning about Pendleton.”

She said that people who have taken Leadership Pendleton include some who have lived in the Round-Up City for decades and come away amazed at what they didn’t know. Participants get an overview of the various inner workings of businesses, government agencies, agriculture, health services, education, and networking. Its goal is to develop informed leaders who will help direct the future of Pendleton and Umatilla County. The class also examines the history and culture of the city as well as media, law, and public safety.

People who either live or work in Pendleton are welcome. Rosenberg-LaBoy estimates about 15 people have already signed up. Tuition is $650 for chamber members and $850 for nonmembers. In many instances, employers cover the tuition. That includes all program-related expenses including materials, meals, transportation, and tours.
