DAYVILLE – Dayville Public Works Director Savannah Martin was on KJDY’s Coffee Time Wednesday morning, discussing the current water situation in Dayville. Last Thursday, February 8th, a leak was detected in the Dayville water system, resulting in the complete drainage of their water reservoir tower, as well as the entire water distribution system.

Martin said several leaks have since been identified and fixed, and as she put it, “it’s not a stress thing, it’s just a patience thing now at this point.”

She said luckily, the reservoir is on its way to becoming full:

“We are just waiting for our reservoir to build. We are currently at 9.27 [feet] this morning. We have a 25 foot reservoir. We are waiting for that to build to about 16 feet so we can flush our lines, take our sample in, and get our Boil Water Notice cleared.”

Martin mentioned that the testing labs in Central Oregon may not be available to take Dayville’s samples until Tuesday, February 20th, and that the “Boil Water Notice” is still in effect until it’s deemed safe to drink.
