CANYON CITY – The Grant County Court met Wednesday morning. The Cyber Mill project approached the court, asking for funding to help with startup costs for the Prairie City and Seneca locations. The ask is around $81,000, but Economic Development Coordinator Tori Stinnett said even half that amount would get the Seneca site operational:
“The big problem is that we’ve raised so much money so far, and we just need to get over the hump so they can be open.”
Commissioners Palmer and Hamsher passed a motion to provide the funding, contingent upon the receival of federal relief monies expected in a couple of weeks. Judge Myers voted against the motion. The Cyber Mill organization is a group of technology hubs that will be available to the public in communities throughout Grant County. They’ll offer computer services, WiFi, telehealth, printing and more.
