WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of the American Rescue Act of 2021, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation will receive $1.38 million in affordable housing grants. Eight other tribes in Oregon will receive funding as well, with a total of $10.5 million set to be dispersed in the state.
“The American Rescue Act housing grant will go a long way to help us provide options for our community,” CTUIR Board of Trustees Chair Kat Brigham stated in a prepared release. “Affordable housing is in short supply and we will put these dollars to good use.”
Grants to other tribes include $2.86 million to Siletz Confederated Tribes; $1.94 million to Grand Ronde Confederated Tribes; $1.06 million to Warm Springs Confederated Tribes; $1.06 million to Klamath Tribes; $810,330 to Coquille Indian Tribe; $668,660 to Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe; $645,994 to Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Confederated Tribes; and $104,915 to Burns Paiute Tribe.
Oregon’s two U.S. senators made the announcement of the funding on Friday.
