BAKER CITY — (Release from Crossroads Carnegie Art Center) Crossroads Carnegie Art Center wants to welcome all guests to come and enjoy their Free Day of the Dance Event on September 17, 2022, at Geiser Pollman Park from 10 am to 4pm at the Powder River Pavilion.
New Crossroads Board Member, Kathy Sanchez has long wanted to have a celebration of dance here in Baker City and she has worked for over a year to make this possible. Local and regional dance groups have scheduled to perform all day at the park. Some performers and groups are professional, some are student groups of all ages, others are simply locals with a passion to dance. A final schedule of performers will be posted on Crossroads Facebook Page and Website no later than September 9.

Thanks to the Support of the Leo Adler Foundation and DE And Jane Clark Foundation Crossroads welcomes numerous professional or semi-professional dance groups from Idaho. Crossroads wants to bring dance groups that can share Asian American, Pacific Islander, Native American and other culturally specific dance groups to Baker City.

Indo Idaho from Boise—Indonesian Dancers
Indo Idaho Inc is a Boise-based non-profit organization that is run by Indonesian Diaspora residing in Idaho. Indo Idaho Inc main purpose is to educate, share and preserve Indonesian culture within the State of Idaho.
Boise Traditional Chinese Dance Group-
Boise Traditional Chinese Dance Group enjoys sharing Chinese culture by performing cultural
dances at local events and teaching classes to all ages.
Laos Cultural Dance from Boise-
An Idaho Group celebrating Laotian Culture Dance.
Irish Dance Idaho from Boise, Idaho—
Mission to create performing experiences, not only for the IDI dancers, but for the many audiences that follow them. Under the direction of Rebecca Ingram and Instructors Heidi Grigg, and Spencer Ingram, dancers are taught and drilled on correct, difficult technique required for traditional and Show-style Irish Step, specifically in the Munster tradition. The talented IDI dancers continue to delight audiences throughout the Northwest with their rhythmic high energy performances.
Nez Perce Traditional Dancers from Lapwei Idaho-
Members of the Nez Perce Tribe will come and perform sharing their traditional dances organized by Nez Perce Cultural Tourism.
Flow Arts Dojo- Fire Dance Artists- Boise Idaho
Flow Dojo is a kinetic Arts Collective founded in the year 2020. Our goal is to inspire and connect people through the meditation that is FLOW. In our hearts and our minds, we define flow as a release of inhibitions, fears and stress. We aim to show this aspect of life to audiences, students, and other masters.
Day of Dance Coloring Contest: In the spring Crossroads invited students from Baker County and North Powder Schools to do a coloring contest celebrating Dance to be used on all promotional materials. Six outstanding projects were selected to be on the main poster:
Braylen Mayo, Carter Wyant, Opal Maliwauki, Peyton Bogner, Sonora Taylor and Soo Jukab all from South Baker Intermediate 4 th grade classes last year all had their images chosen to be on the poster. All students received a Gift Certificate to Charley’s Ice Cream.
Every member of Mrs. Eskew 3 rd Class at Haines Elementary School submitted artwork as part of a class project and the Crossroads Board of Directors were so impressed at the commitment and quality. Each student’s artwork will be cover of the programs handed out at the event. In May before the end of the school year, Crossroads surprised Mrs. Eskew and her students with ice cream, a gift certificate to Copy,
Ship and Mail for Mrs. Eskew to buy art supplies and an art class with Crossroads Art Instructor Paul Hoelscher.

All original artworks will be on display at the park during Day of the Dance.
National Museum Day- Also September 17 is National Museum Day and the Baker Heritage Museum at 2480 Grove St, will be having free attendance all day. They will also be providing additional changing rooms for the many dancers coming from Idaho. For more information contact the Baker Heritage Museum at 541-523-9308
Services on site/What to Bring: Crossroads invites all guests to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the day. The performance will go on regardless of weather- so if rainy please bring raincoats or umbrellas. Crossroads has confirmed that the following food vendors will be on hand in the park selling food: MC Taco Bus, Get Smoke BBQ and in the afternoon Celtic Cauldron Kettle Korn. Golden Crown Restaurant across the street from the park will have 10% off coupon in the program for purchases that day. A local youth group has not confirmed that they will be selling drinks in the park but is expected.
Crossroads is bringing its new portable dance floor to place inside the Pavilion to assure the safety of the dancers. “Crossroads is thrilled to host our Day of the Dance at Geiser Pollman Park. Terry Drever Gee who are the Co-Chairs of the this event.
