PENDLETON – Pendleton Fire Chief Jim Critchley’s New Year’s resolution is to get the Fire Station No. 3 atop Airport Hill functioning again after years of lying dormant.
“It may not be staffed with four full-time, 24-hours a day, 365-days a year, but we need to do something,” he said.
The airport industrial park is much busier than it used to be with the Pendleton UAS Test Range in full swing.
“We need to something to give the confidence to the airport and all of their members,” he said. “The UAS groups absolutely need a working fire department there.”
He said the Radisson Hotel, which is under construction now, is another reason for getting the station up and running.
“There are a lot of medical calls that may be here, and time equals heart or muscle, so we want to make sure that we’re quick to answer any of those issues,” he said.
