PILOT ROCK – The Pilot Rock Rural Fire Protection District is being led by a neighbor as its board of directors investigates personnel issues. Because such issues are confidential, there will be no official comment on the scope of the investigation.
“Pilot Rock had some personnel issues and they had to start an investigation to look at some of these things,” Pendleton Fire Chief Jim Critchley said. “When that happened, they didn’t have the support.”
It’s important that residents understand they are not without fire protection. Critchley is filling those shoes.
“They asked and, being a good neighbor, I said yes, Pendleton Fire Department will help,” he said. “A stronger Pilot Rock means that we’ve got a stronger Umatilla County.”
