GILLIAM and MORROW COUNTY — Local, state, and federal crews are battling a wildfire that crossed from Gilliam County into Morrow County on Saturday, officials said.
The Sully Fire continues to burn east, though crews have contained its southwestern and northwestern edges. Officials reported flare-ups in the southeastern corner, while the head of the fire pushes northeast.
The cause remains under investigation, but initial information suggests a faulty power transformer may be to blame.
Aircraft and local road crews are assisting firefighters. No homes or outbuildings have been lost along Sullivan Lane, and Highway 74 remains open.
Evacuation orders remain in place for affected residents, monitor the Gilliam County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. Authorities have not yet released an official estimate on the fire’s total size or overall containment percentage.
