COLLEGE PLACE – College Place Public Schools is preparing to welcome students back to school for all grades. Some students’ parents have already opted for full remote learning through the school year. Those who are returning to classrooms will operate under a hybrid schedule and the district has issued pointers on what that new routine will look like.
Masks are required and other extra safeguards will be in place including social distancing, adapted learning environments, and daily health screenings. Those in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade will attend school five days a week, either from 8-10:45 a.m. or from 12:15-3:15 p.m. Periods 1-3 will be taught on one day, and 4-6 the next. Those students will also participate in homework and planned learning while at home for the rest of the day. Parents must agree to checking children’s temperatures and monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms shortly before the students leave home.
For the off-campus learning, internet mobile hotspots using Verizon can be checked out for qualified families. Community hot spots are in operation in the upper Davis parking lot, CPHS stadium lot, and Valle Lindo.
Students remaining on the full remote model can avail themselves of specialized learning support including one-on-one support and office hours live as needed between 12:30-3 p.m.
