COLLEGE PLACE – The College Place Public Schools Board of Directors has approved building a new activity field house in response to the growth of College Place and increasingly tight program spaces. This large indoor facility will be paid for using existing funds and grants, without raising taxes.

The 11,000-square-foot building will include two basketball courts, space for indoor volleyball, indoor soccer, wrestling, cheer leading, and multiple batting cages. It will also have restrooms, a concessions area, and storage. The field house will be used for school activities, after-school programs, and community events, and is expected to generate revenue through rentals.

Superintendent Jim Fry and CPPS President Eva Brown emphasized the project’s importance in meeting community expectations and responsible fiscal management. The project will start with hiring an architect, followed by design and city planning, aiming for groundbreaking in early fall and completion within a year.
