WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners meets this morning (Monday) at 10 a.m. and will consider an agreement with Tallman’s Pharmacy for medication for opioid use disorder in the Walla Walla County Jail.

If the agreement is approved, Tallman’s Pharmacy would supply, store, and dispense 3,018 doses of Subutex on written request by the county’s director of corrections or any other authorized jail staff. The county will pay $15,090, due on June 1, 2022. Subutex is an FDA-approved prescription medication to help treat dependence on opioids like heroin, morphine, oxycodone, or codeine. Walla Walla County has an agreement with the Washington State Health Care Authority to implement and enhance the use of the medication in the county jail.

The commissioners will also consider signing a local agency real estate professional services consultant agreement with Epic Land Solutions, Inc. for right-of-way services associated with the Dell Sharp Bridge project, which will replace the existing bridge with a two-span, prestressed girder bridge from milepost 5.20 to 5.80. The Walla Walla Public Works Department reports that it does not have the personnel available to provide right-of-way acquisition.

The Dell Sharp Bridge project is expected to begin next month and be completed in November. The projected cost is $7.8 million.
