WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Community Development Department will hold a public hearing later this month on a conditional use permit to establish an organic waste processing facility. The site is located at a former sawmill at 3397 Isaacs Avenue in Walla Walla.
The applicant, David Dressler of Bio-Environmental Resource Recovery International, based in College Place, said in his application that the facility will compost green waste, food scraps, cardboard, construction debris, paper, and municipal solid waste. According to Dressler, the process will result in producing marketable compost and other soil amendments.
The hearing examiner will decide within 10 working days of the public hearing, which is scheduled for Friday, May 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Walla Walla County Public Health and Legislative Building on the second floor in the commissioners’ chambers, 314 West Main Street in Walla Walla.
