JOHN DAY – The Grant County Health Department has not been in agreement with the recent metrics released by the state that places Grant County at the Moderate Risk Level, which begins today. A letter, drafted and signed by CCS Director Kimberly Lindsay as well as County Commissioners Hamsher and Palmer; and Judge Myers, states that the state’s case counts and dates don’t match up with the county’s data. Using the data compiled by the health department, the county would still be in the Lower Risk category. Find a downloadable copy of the letter below:

In an email to our newsroom, Lindsay wrote, “This letter was sent to Representative Mark Owens.  Though it says it in the letter, I want to reiterate that the Grant County Health Department and the Blue Mountain Hospital has entered the positive test results as they have come in, daily.  Over the past several days, many conversations have occurred between Grant County and the state.  The state has determined Grant County will need to stay at Moderate Risk as they are going off of the date that the results came in (1/15/2021).”

With the lower case count, the county is on track to return to Low Risk Level status when the next set of metrics are released.
