Council to vote on FEMA grant

COLLEGE PLACE – The College Place City Council will consider accepting a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant for the fire department at its regular meeting tonight (Tuesday) at 7.

The grant of $78,605.68 is earmarked to cover costs of personal protective equipment, overtime, and other equipment needed in the response to the pandemic. The fire department has been trying to obtain this grant since March 2020.

The council will also consider approving the purchase of a 2021 Dodge Ram for the fire chief via a state bid for $37,681.73. It will cost an additional $12,000 to outfit the truck for fire duties. The purchase of a new truck is in the city’s budget.

The council meeting is streamed live on the city’s You Tube channel.
