Council to discuss ambulance rates

COLLEGE PLACE – The College Place City Council will hold a workshop tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m. to discuss ambulance rates.
College Place Fire Department Chief David Winter said the city has informed the state of its plans to increase rates for 2025. The city has two rates, one for residents of Walla Walla County and one for non-residents. Winters said the price difference accounts for the EMS levy.
Current basic life support non-emergency rates for residents is $550. The proposed rate for residents will be $700. Current rate for non-residents is $750, and the proposed rate for non-resident would be $900.
The basic life support emergency ambulance rates for residents is $650, and the proposed rate for residents is $800. The current rate for non-residents is $850, with the proposed rate for non-residents would be $1,000.
Since 2018, when ambulance service started in College Place, rates have not increased. The new rates must be established prior to Oct. 16. The city council will also discuss fiscal year 2025 federal and state legislative priorities which include the Lions Park Community Center, the construction of a new water reservoir, building a new police station, and reconstruction of Southeast 12th Street.
