WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla City Council holds a regular meeting today (Wednesday) at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting is also streamed live on the city’s website. One item on the agenda is approving a preliminary plat for Avery Estates at 239 S.E. Avery St.

Hayden Homes is proposing developing a 59-lot subdivision with a maximum of 72 new housing units on 8.49 acres. A public hearing was held on the request on Jan. 7. At the hearing, the project engineer stated that stormwater will be retained on the site and designated to handle a 25-year storm event. The hearing examiner recommended approval of the plat.

The council will also consider approving the purchase of $64,363.56 worth of crack seal sealant for roadway maintenance at the meeting. That cost also covers freight and sales tax. The purchase from Arrow Construction Supply, Inc. is obtained with a Sourcewell Cooperative Contract.
