Council to consider economic development study

COLLEGE PLACE – The College Place City Council meets tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. and will consider awarding an $80,000 contract to Economic Growth Strategies LLC of Bakersfield, California to complete a comprehensive economic development strategy for the city.

The city obtained a $40,000 federal planning grant from the Economic Development Administration to complete a comprehensive economic development strategy for the city. This will double as the economic development element for the forthcoming comprehensive plan update. That plan is needed so the city can qualify for federal Economic Development Administration funds.

Also on the agenda, informational reports on the fiscal year 2025 to 2030 capital facility and equipment replacement plans, plus the fiscal year 2025 draft federal and state legislative agenda which includes the Lions Park Community Center, construction of a new water tank, police department building replacement and reconstruction of Southeast 12th Street from College to Larch avenues.
