MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater City Council meets tonight (Monday) at 7 p.m. The council will consider two bid awards. The first is for the golf course pond liner replacement project and the second, for electric transformers.

City Manager Linda Hall says the golf course liner replacement project involves draining the pond, removing the existing boulders around it, taking out the old pond which is about 20 years old and replacing it with a new one.

β€œThe liner has been damaged over the years by sun, wind, and weather elements but also the occasional errant golfer driving his cart into our pond and other mishaps,” Hall added.

The pond is used for irrigation, as well as a water hazard for golfers. The low bid for the liner replacement bid came in from Don Jackson Excavation for $72,669.

The second bid award, Hall explained, is for two very large electric transformers much like the ones used to power large commercial buildings or subdivisions. The low bid was $53,240 for both, and Hall said it will take almost a year to receive them.
