COLLEGE PLACE – The College Place City Council is holding a public hearing and vote on its 2021 budget at the regular meeting tonight (Tuesday) at 7. The budget calls for expenditures of almost $34 million.
The council will also vote on a three-year contract agreement with the local chapter of the International Association of Firefighters. Raises would be four percent on the first day of January 2021. In 2022, the raise would be three percent, with another four percent scheduled for 2023.
Also on the agenda is authorizing a contract with the geology department of Western Washington University to collect ground penetrating radar to analyze and locate potential burials at the Poor Farm Cemetery, which was established in 1891 for residents of Poor Farm and unclaimed remains from the county. The study will cost $12,567, $10,000 of which will be paid for by a state grant.
