PENDLETON โ Improving communication with the public is the newest goal to be set by the Pendleton City Council and President McKennon McDonald is one of the members of a subcommittee exploring ways to improve communication other than just inviting people to attend council meetings.
โIf anything, COVID has taught us that we need to provide more opportunities for people to be part of the conversation without actually being in the same room as you,โ she said.
McDonald said the committee has discussed hiring or contracting with someone with expertise in communication and social media, but has not made a decision to recommend that step.
โIt continues to be a major focus, and Iโm really excited that it has gained the traction that it has, because I think weโre moving continually in that positive direction,โ she said. โWe want to be responsive to the citizens because we know weโre spending taxpayer money so weโre trying to figure out how we can do it conservatively within the budget.โ
